Joe,

Welcome to HealingWell.  I just did a search on the Warrick inhaler and could not come up with anything.  The name, Warrick would come up, but other inhalers would pop up instead.  Have they stopped making it?

Have you ever tried the Xopenex inhaler?  It works well for me when others didn't.  Before I started using the Xopenex inhaler, I would have to use my nebulizer.  I also use Xopenex in it.

I know it has to be terrible to have a medication that you can depend on for breathing and now you can't get it.  Have you been to see your doctor?  I'm not a medical professional, just a volunteer, but I'm wondering if you can have withdrawal symptoms which would make your situation worse?  That's just a  guess and a big one at that.

The only reason I thought about that was because many years ago, a couple of times out of desperation, I used Afrin and got hooked on it.  I remember having to have an injection of Celestone each time that happened and my doctor at the time said I absolutely could not use the Afrin or the shot would not do any good.  I remember each time it being a miserable 24 hours and I only had allergies back then.

I would suggest you calling your doctor soon.

Take care!

Carla

hey carla thanks for the info. here's the situation with me. I am 36y male. i have had asthma since i could remember as was put on proventil the albuterol. i have allergise and the whole nine yards when i was younger. I could have grown out of asthma however durring my teens, i started smolking cig however i did some damage to my health and suffer with sime crapy asthma. now i could make this better if i shed some POUNDS but here is my problem. i used an inhaler called albuterol and the company that worked for me was a brand called Warrick. it was a white inhaller. the progection gas that pushed the albuterol medcine has now been banded in the usa due to damaging the ozone layer. now ive tried using the blue on which is armstrong and the yellow inhaler called provental. neither one of these work for me. and it sucks. I HAVE DEFENTILY built a tollerence th this inhalers. i defentily abused this medication and hope that i do some real damage. but if you know anyone that can get the warrick brand please tell me. i was hopeing that canada has them but i havent tried yet. sorry for the self discloser.
thanks
Joey

Joey,

Could you tell me in what way you think you have abused the medication?  Are you seeing a doctor now?  If this is something you don't want to post, you can email me.  Just click on my name and it takes you to my email address.  Mention HealingWell in the subject line so I will know who it is.

Take care!

hey carla i am seeing a doctor for my asthma. What i mean about abusing albuterol is that i usually take it 4 to 8 times a day. the inhaler really only supposed to be used when needed and only used once a week. so i have built a huge tolerance to these inhalers and that's why when the discontinued the warrick brand the others don't do the job. ahhhhhhh i need warrick lol.
thanks

Joe,

Remember I am not a medical professional, but it could be that your doctor might have to put you on a round of Prednisone while switching you over to another inhaler, that you will use wisely, right?  You might ask your doctor about the Xopenex inhaler.  Keep us posted.  We don't want to hear that you got hit in the head while out on the street trying to buy an inhaler.  tongue

Take care!

joe, Hi there friend. You must see your doctor and explain to him how much you are using your inhalers and consider why you realy feel the need to useit so much...are you afraid of your asthma.[we re all afraid at time.]has your ciggie and drug habit drawn you towards another drug dependency ....ie...your asthma relivers.you must take a deep breathe and go and talk to your doctor and tell him how you feel and the amount of medication you are taking to control your asthma dont play with your symptoms and concerns asthma is an awful disease but can be controlled...I know!!!Take care my friend and listen to Carla she is a cool lady.

hey groovey,
i see a doctor for my asthma, he knows how often i use my inhaler. im not scared of my asthma at all. ive only been brought to the hosiptal for an asthma attack 3 times in 36 years. my whole thing about posting these blogs is to see if anyone knows where i can find the warrick brand of albuterol inhalers since they ban them the usa. basically all i have to do is get in shape and commit to looseing some of those UNWANTED pounds off of my body. It was that the warrick brand really did a great job in controlling my asthma. i maybe used it once every 2 days, but this armstrongbrand SUCKS and i have to use it more often especially when its hot and humid out. anyway hope all is well with my fellow asthma friends.
talk to you soon

Hi jspoons.I do feel for you .I have had asthma for nearly 30 years and over the time the docs have given me new inhalers that I have found difficult to use or that I had basically got immune to...I have just been put onto a cfc free ventolin inhaler that I just can't cope with because the meds shoot out so fast I cannot inhale quick enough [particularly if I am having real breathing problems]and the meds go to the back of the throat and cause oral thrush.I spoke to my doc and she has put me onto the old type which work just fine....evidentely it was a new type of inhaler that was being used [cheaper no doubt].....will work for some asthmatics but not for me.I am lucky to have a resourse in my local clinic where I can go and talk to the pharmist about my medication...side effect...efficiency...and also an asthma specialist who listens to my concerns and worries.Very reassuring. As for getting into shape...good for you...and loosing those extra pounds will help your asthma...believe me .If you want any support with diet and exercise plans let me know. Here in england we use ventolin [salbutamol] as a reliver....symbicort [budesonide and formoterol]or becotide as a preventer and then loratadine as an anti allergy tablet... one a day for reief of the effects of bed mites, dust, animal hair and air borne pollen allergies...these have changed my life...the difference since I started taking them has been amazing....and I now use my reliver only occasionally each day....without the tabs I would be sneezing, runny eyes,coughing...wheezing.Another brand smiliar to these tabs is Piriton...which we can buy over the counter ...have you got it in usa....try it ,it can only do you good....stay healthy my friend and breathe easy...hugs grooveyxx
