I was given Pataday for eye allergies and now my eyes are red and swollen. It seems I have reacted to the drops. Any suggestions on how to relieve the redness and swelling? thanks.

Might be a reaction to the drug or to a preservative in the eyedrops. Antihistamine eye drops may help ~ I've had good luck with Opcon-A (sold over-the-counter). Also, Zaditor is now available over-the-counter and may help too.

Good luck,

I agree that a short term course of antihistamine eye drops might get the redness out and you can try using cool wash clothes on your eyes to ease the swelling.

Awe, so sorry you've had an allergic reaction, Call your doctor when you can to let him/her know of your reaction. I agree that a cool wash cloth might help with the swelling, but instead of using another eye drop, if your not allergic to benadryl then take some benadryl by mouth for the allergic reaction.
Keep us posted as to how your doing and don't forget to call the doctor about this reaction!
Soft hugz and hope your feeling better soon.....

I tried all of oyur suggestions and called the doctor. Now they have me on a steroid eye drop called Alrex. According to the package insert, I should be see ing results within two days. it has been one full day, and no significant improvement. Anyone ever use this eye drop?
Thanks for your help.

Try to remain calm, I know that can be hard but what the doctor ordered for you should work soon, just give it a lil time as you had a bad reaction...I've used pataday eye drops with a problem.
Sure hope your feeling better soon...Keep us posted
Lots of well wishes and soft hugz.......
