I'm really curious to know if anyone else has had these symptoms:

I recently (like 3 months ago) started feeling constricted in my chest, and often it would move up the front of my neck and to my ears. My ears feel like tey are full of pressure when this happens. Also, I can't clear my throat at all when this happens. Actually, that was the first symptom which started about a year go. Not being able to clear my throat, it would come and go, annoying but didn't hinder me from doing anything. It was mostly after I ate. And a lot of times my voice would be hoarse. Finally went to the doctor and she said it was reflux and gave me Nexium. It didn't get better it has gotten worse. I guess I do have reflux because my stomach burns a lot, and sometimes I get nauseous when I lay down, but I never have burning in my throat. Even having to clear my throat non stop, doesn't make my throat hurt. It's my neck..almost like someone has their hands around my throat. And sometimes my chin will itch sort of on the inside. I am allergic to cats, so if I am around one my chin will sort of itch like that. But if this is allergies, why do I feel constriction in my chest first. I do not sneeze, get an itchy throat, itchy eyes or anything like I would do if it were a cat reaction. Also, sometimes I get the chest tightness just from yelling, walking, picking something heavy up, etc. Doctors are quick to say "oh you have asthma and allergies, take this". Infact I was given Symbicort. I took one puff of it, and within about  minute I literally thought I was going to die right there on the spot. I don't even know how to explain what it felt like. Almost like my upper body was paralyzed, like I couldn't swallow or something. Whatever it was it scarred me good. I will never take that again. I wondered maybe if I don't have asthma and since I took a medicine for asthma, maybe that made me react like that. I don't know. Anyone who knows anything, please tell me. I want to go to a lung specialist and my doctor acts like I am crazy. Thanks

It sounds like it can be many things. The first thing that comes to mind is that it could possibly be food allergies. Have you seen an allergist? Second, I have acid reflux and it bothers my throat that I feel like I have to constantly clear it. Before I started on meds I felt too like my whole chest was getting constricted and that I had one painful lump in my chest as well as nausea and stomach burn. But if you haven't seen an allergist, then I suggest you go and have some food testing. Food allergies or any allergies do not always fit into the typical stereo type such as the itchy/watery eyes, sneezing etc. We can have a wide array of symptoms when it comes to allergies.

I had allergy testing last month, no foods except corn. The weird thing is that I was allergic to almost everything else, but I have been that way for probaley 20 years. Nothing had changed on my allergy test. I am allergic to every grass yet I mow the grass all my life with no problems. I don't get it. I was on Nexium but my stomach burning got worse, and my throat clearing got worse. The itchy feeling in my chin is driving me crazy too. Also, when I lay down, the chest tightness and itchy chin go away. The minute I stand up, I feel the pressure in my chest. I have lots of other symptoms, that are leading me to want to get tested for Lyme. I first got sick 16 years ago, I had a stiff neck for months, then tingling and numbness, to joint pain, etc the list goes on. I am totally at a loss, and no doctor seems to want to help.  Thanks for your reply.

From what I understand, Lyme can be hard to get detected after a length of period. Many people go undiagnosed for many years. I am not sure on all the details of getting tested so maybe you should post on our Lyme forum and ask some questions if you haven't already done so.
