Not getting any answers to my post after my bad asthma attack about the xopenex inhaler.  I got a prescription and used it but it just didn't work.  I had a little relief after an hour but not enough to  help my breathing.  How many times to you have to use the xopenex before it really starts to work?  I thought it was a rescue inhaler and would work quickly like my albuterol inhaler which usually works within 10 minutes.  I did prime it 4 times before using like the directions said.  And I did use it with my spacer.  Maybe it works better without a spacer? Would really like an answer.  So many people seem to prefer the xopenex to the abuterol but the albuterol seems to work better for me.  Please please reply.

thanks.

I was hopeing someone would've chimed in on you...I had read it and was thinking of a reply
How many puffs of
Xopenex did you use?. My doc recommends at least two puffs every 4 hours
if your in a bad flair. You should really call your doc and I know it's a weekend,
but if your in a flair and it's not getting better
call the doctor asap or just get to your local Hospital.
As for the xopenex, I don't use a spacer and I'll
probably get boo'd about that...........................
But a spacer is supposed to help as it gets more medication into you.
Sorry, I'm tired it's been one of those weekends and we got a adjustor to finally come out and look at our damage on Tuesday...
So anyone chime in here please if you got some info for Aurora60
soft hugz aurora, sorry my post is abrupt.

Thanks Chartreux, I did go to the dr. and she did give me a nebulizer treatment with Xopenex in it. I did feel much better after that.  She gave me a prescrip for the xopenex inhaler and said to take 2 puffs every 4-6 hrs.  This I did but it just didn't clear up the wheezing as well as the albuterol.  Someone said it takes a while for the xopenex to kick in, but it really didn't for me so I went back to the albuterol. I am going to a 2nd lung specialist so will find out but was hoping someone on the forum might have experience with this.  I am also on a 5 day course of presdnisone so that is helping. And unfortunately the dog will be gone after Tues. so will see if maybe I clear up after that. I appreciate you taking the time to answer me.  Sounds like you have some major problems yourself and I am sorry you have to go through that.  I usually post on a different forum where you get a lot of answers so not used to nobody responding.

Take care and hugs to you to,

Aurora

Usually people here are good at responding, but a couple of our moderators are out sick,
Hopefully they'll be back soon as we really need them..
So just be a little patient, okay...
Thank you...
Try the chat room, it's good
Sure hope you'll be feeling better soon and again my sympathies on the loss of the pet.
Took me awhile to get over the loss of my little Max and I still think about him, so it'll
take time to heal....lots of soft hugz......
