i cannot breathe it feels like my throat is a straw, every single morning i have to get up and take my nebulizer cuz they don't hand out the emergency inhalers anymore as samples. is there anything i can do cuz currently i don't have any health insurance and i tried to get health insurance and they told me it would cost like over 400 dollars a month for one person, so i tried to go through masshealth and they denied me cuz they couldn't prove that i was an american citizen without me driving all the way to worcester or by mailing them my original ID and my birth certificate. i was wonderin if there was any self treatment for asthma cuz i can't take not being able to breathe anymore

pixie, Are you elibible for Medicaid?  It is for people with very low incomes who cannot afford health insurance. Do you work?  I dom't know what masshealth is but if all you have to do is mail your ID and birth certificate I would do it.  And you don't have to send the originals. if you mean by ID your drivers license make a copy of it front and back. And with a birth certificate get a copy of your birth certificate, have it notorized by a Notary Public and send them. You may need to take a witness with you to the Notary but check with the Notary. Often they have people in the office who can sign and witness a signature.  You can find a Notary at most credit unions.  Look in your phone book if you need to find one near you. I don't know how far Worcester is for you but maybe it is worth the trip to get what you need. I don't know of any natural cures for asthma. I have had it all my life and have had to take meds.  I have albuterol for a rescue inhaler but you can't take it every day.  It is not good for your heart to use albuterol so often.  You may need a long term inhaler.  I take symbicort and it has changed my life.  Can you go to the ER as a charity case and get meds? Who were you getting your sample inhalers from?  Most drs do not have samples anymore as inhalers have become so expensive.  I know how you feel about the health ins. I have to pay over $800 a month for my health ins. but I have had many illnesses and the costs were out of sight so I have to keep the insurance going. Otherwise I would be out on the street. I hope I have given you some helpful suggestions. And I hope you find a solution and start to feel better.

States are gradually starting to require the same ID as is required for a passport. That is an original birth certificate and one other form of identification. I got a new passport this year, mailed my original birth certificate to them because the original one I submitted at the office was not accepted. I did receive the original back in about ten days.

Remember, just because your birth certificate is an original doesn't mean you can't get another original. I had to get a new one for my passport, because the one that was issued at the time of my birth didn't have all the information now required. I just ordered two copies so I have an extra just in case.

I was shocked when we moved to Tennessee this year; in order to get a drivers license, we had to present our out-of-state driver's license and either an original birth certificate or passport. Apparently the new rules are part of the whole anti-terrorism thing, and will be more widespread over the next few years.
