Has anyone had experience with Xyzal? My allergies haven't responded to Allegra for a while, and my spring allergies have been out of control. My allergist gave me some samples, that I haven't tried yet. I guess it's related to Zyrtec, but is supposed to be less drowsy. Some things I've read indicate that it makes you really drowsy. I've also heard that weight gain has been a side effect.
Could you tell me the side effects you've experienced, and tell me about its effectiveness?
Thanks very much.

I have been taking Xyzal for about 3 months now and have noticed it does make me tired. This is an allergy med you want to take before bedtime. As for the weight gain I can't say that I've really noticed any significant shift in weight as a result of using this drug. I believe it is very effective in helping with my allergies as well as keeping the inflammation down in preventing asthma attacks so all is good in my world. Good luck and hope you have the same results!

Xyzal is in the same class as Zrytec and is related to zyrtec...
Hope this info helps........do a google search on it to find out more about it...
most allergy meds usually will make you drowsy unless they have a decongestant in them..
Hope the xyzal works for you, if it makes you droesy then take it with dinner.........
Keep us posted

Thanks for the replies, javajo and Chartreux...
I took it Friday night, and had some sleep problems...actually seemed to make me somewhat agitated. I wondered if it could be interacting with the Singular I take for asthma.

Then I took it Sunday morning...now I've been tired for the past week due to flu the week before, and although I was tired, I didn't notice a big effect. I'm going to try it again this morning.

Actually I had a strange sleep effect again last night...kind of light sleeping...more dreaming. I don't know if it's related at all. I'll just keep experimenting with timing. I'm hoping it works for the extreme tree pollen problems I'm having.

Thanks again,
Denise

Hi all,
I've taken Xyzal for three days (in the morning), and have not been tired in the least.
Hopefully it'll work when the tree pollens are out in full force. Allegra wasn't working any more.

Thanks, Chartreux!
I hope so too. I'll check back in after I see how it works when the pollen really starts flying.
