its getting really annoying, for the past 2 weeks i've been weezing and having dry cough spells, they have gotten worse. i only sleep around 4 or 5 hrs a night, but usually when i lay down on my back the coughing goes away, but when i get up and move around it gets worse and all day yesterday it felt like someone was standing on my chest all day. i get a rapid heartbeat and shortness of breath, went to the er and they prescribed predisone to me, which i've taken for 3 days, but it seems not to be working. Chest x ray came back fine, and my oxygen levels where at 100% at the time of the visit.

i've really never had any breathing problems before, but i have recently moved to a different town, and now have to deal with 6 animals when i was only around 1 all day. not sure whats going on, but i don't have any sore throat or major sinus issues. just a hard dry cough with nothing coming up. it literally sounds like i'm dying.. i've had alot of stress and anxiety lately since i moved and the job doesn't calm me down either. i just feel so bad and i feel the docs don't understand how bad it is (maybe until i'm laying down dead). shakehead

Have you seen a pulmonologist yet to rule out asthma?

James,

I've seen you post in the Lyme forum - you might want to ask your question there, too. I think Lyme can do some strange things to the nerves that may be causing these sensations and cough. I agree you should also go to a pulmonologist to be evaluated for Asthma, but also keep in mind the strange things Lyme can do to a person.

Good luck,

^^^thanks

i'm thinking it could be combined. but who really knows until i see the right doc. i can say cough drops do help temperately. on doxy right now for 21 days at 2 times a day. not a side effect of that since i started doxy after the coughing. just really odd since i don't smoke (never have) and never been allergic to anything before..

Lyme can cause a person to develop allergies, and not all Asthma is allergic. Good luck,

I've had a dry hacking cough and a stuffy nose and/or runny nose for about 23 days. This pollen season has kicked up my asthma and my chest feels tight to. I am so ready for this stuff to leave. I would really like to wear my C-Pap mask and use my machine.....
