Hi all.

Well I have been around again and have had a CT Scan. I have had a couple doctors weigh in but a friend recommended one and I really like her.

After discussing all this with her and having the CT Scan she presented the two options: traditional sinus surgery (FESS) or Balloon Sinuplasty.

The balloon procedure is newer and I am wondering if other members have heard of it or had it done or ect.

Thanks in advance and Take Care.

First of alll, Hello!
questions to ask or think about, 1. Can you breathe okay without these surgeries?
2. What would the cost be for each surgery, as opposed to the other and your co-pays??
3. What is recovery like after these surgeries, how hard will it be to breathe, afterwards and so on???
4. do a google search on both surgeries and maybe results???
Think long and hard on this, sometimes Doctors push too much surgery, my asthma doctor wants me
to have sinus surgery but then my ENT said no I didn't need it..as with any surgery there will be pain
and just think over what I've said, maybe even getting another opinion with your current mri scans from another doctor...
I had surgery to correct a deviated septum (nose) and it hurt to breathe so bad for 4 days after
for me it would have to be a life threatening surgery....
lots and lots of soft hugz
sorry I rambled, please do a google search and check these out before making your choice
will keep you in my thoughts and prayers..
HUGZ

Hi Lizzie,

If it helps any, I used to have an average of 9-11 sinus infections a year. I'd just get off meds and it would be right back. It got to the point whee they wanted to do surgery. I did the ct scan and stuff too. I started doing Colustrum (bovine breast milk in a pill) for my skin and noticed that I was getting fewer and fewer infections. This year is already August and I've only been to the drs. once for an infection which was due to a reaction of cleaning chemicals on my job. Every time I started to get stuffy I'd up my dosage. I take about 4 per day....2 in morn and 2 at nite. To help with the stuffiness, goldenseal works (unless you're ragweed sensitive). There's marshmallow root, rasberry leaf, or slippery elm and fennugreek and thyme.

   Check it out.

Thanks for the replies. I have done a lot of internet research, watched some really ... interesting videos (warning: don't watch right before or after eating!), and read lots articles. I am very encouraged and feel really good about myself for getting so well informed!

I have another doc appointment this week and we will discuss. I am anticipating having the balloon sinuplasty which is a little bit scary but I am feeling good about my choice at least at the moment!

Wish me luck!

Take care.

Lizziebear, Do you have GERD? Sometime acid will get up in your sinuses and cause irritations. Just a thought.
