I get terrible headaches when i take anything containing magnesium sterate, omega 3, or whey protein. i was taking a high dose of omega 3 and whey for awhile and a lot of supplements containing steric acid until i started using a proton pump inhibitor for stomach reflux and i think that set something off.

Can anyone explain the trigger to me and how I can possibly get over this? i hope this isn't a life long thing as every drug and supplement contain magnesium sterate and i want to use whey and omega 3 again.

thank you for reading.

In all honesty, even with my medical training, I would not feel comfortable discussing your treatment in this extent. Your physician is the best one to speak with. And, no question is stupid :)

You need to see an allergist to be able to tell for sure if this is an allergy or intolerance. Intolerances usually involve the intestinal tract (and possible other organs) while allergies affect the body systemically. Either way, I doubt you will be able to get over it however if it's just an intolerance, you may be able to eat those things again some day because the body changes.

I already saw my doctor many times about this, aswell as two allergists, a gastroenterologist, and they were all clueless and it was useless, and that's why I came online.

Isn't there anything I can do? Anythign i should look into?

To get your omega 3 try eating more fish.

I don't know about the others.

I have found that NAET can more easily identify allergies and eliminate them as well as compared to traditional skin tests and allergy shots. I have used NAET for over a year and have found it to be very sucessful. For more information go to NAET.com or the Ben Roy Baker face book page. Be well.

I've had experience with doctors being unable to identify the problem, majorly. It could be a coincidence. I'm not sure. The best thing to do is go off whatever new supplements or foods you introduced to your diet when these symptoms started and see if you feel better.

Also, a great way to manage acid reflux is to mix apple cider vinegar or lemon juice with water before each meal, or at least before breakfast.

You can also, once you're feeling better, reintroduce each thing back into your diet, one at a time, to see what the true culprit is. However, that can be risky, especially if it's an allergy.

Good luck. Hope you feel better soon.
