about 2 months ago I had my first severe allergic reaction. I had an anaphylactic reaction to Cipro or Flagyl (antibiotics). The doctors aren't sure which one so I am considered allergic to both.

Anyway, I was told that I was now an "allergic person". Since stopping the Prednisone and Antihistamines things have seemed fine. Some suspected things here and there, but no noticeable reactions.

Last night as I was eating dinner (cheese ravioli) I noticed I was itchy and felt two hives on my neck. My husband and I just assumed it was to the food and waited it out to see if the hives would go down or anything else would happen. Things seemed fine. At midnight I woke up and had to run to the bathroom - severe diarrhea which was fine after about an hour. Things have seemed fine today. I had a plain toasted bagel and some pretzels and all has seemed ok on that front. So it occurred to me, maybe the hives/stomach issues weren't the food and I realized I took my Prevacid right before dinner.

Could it be that I am suddenly allergic to Prevacid even though I've been taking it for 4 years? I am not going to take it for a few days and see how things go. The Dr. said to stop taking it for now.

I know allergies can develop at any point, but does this sound right or more likely and ingredient in the food I ate? Obviously I am very new to this being an allergic person thing. My only allergies before the anaphylaxis were avocado (horrible burning sensation in the stomach every time I ate it) and shrimp (hives and itchy throat). I do not eat either now.

Any help would be helpful, especially being new to the whole allergy world. Thanks!

Try going without the prevacid for now. If you feel better, then that was it.
Try the cheese ravioli without the prevacid and see what happens.
