Hi everyone,

I've had asthma and allergies my whole life but my asthma has been well controlled for many years. I barely use my inhaler. All of a sudden in the past week I've had deep burning in my lungs, wheezing and a feeling of pressure on my lungs, making it hard to breathe.

I thought I had a lung infection but the doctor says its an asthma flare up. I've never had this burning before and it scares me. He gave me flovent which I have started using along with my salbutamol inhaler.

The weather has changed recently to very, very cold, -7 degrees and the cold has also been hurting my lungs.

Has anyone else ever had this burning? It goes away at night or when I'm resting. Mostly happens with I'm walking about or in the cold.

Thanks,

Carlynn

Yes, cold air can cause issues. I use surgical mask, because it filters as well as warms. I'm an odd sight sitting on the school playground with a surgical mask and sunglasses. I get many questions. :))

Hi, all.  I have that burning feeling right before I get bronchi***.  I had asthma as a child and pretty much ignored the symptoms I had as an adult. nono    I know now that was the wrong thing to do. Last July I ended up at my NP's office and she gave me a breathing treatment. My pulse ox was down to 86.  What a wake up call that was!  Since then I have been using Advair twice a day and I have a rescue inhaler.  I am in the midst of a sinus infection at the moment that has just moved to my chest.  Bronchitis burns when you cough.  I hope you aren't developing bronchi***. I would keep a close eye on your symptoms.  I have a friend that has asthma and she has that burning feeling w/o developing bronchitis, so maybe what you have is similar...???  Hopefully your new meds will make it better. If not, see you doctor again, please.  Don't be a dummie like me and ignore your symptoms.      rolleyes          Best Wishes, V

Thanks Vannie,

I am going back to the doctors tomorrow but my lungs feel a lot better today, so I hope the burning goes away completley. I find it really scary. I appreciate the info. I've never experienced this burning before with my asthma. I will see what the doctors say. I slept with a humidifier last night, maybe it helped? I had a sinus infection right before this started. That is why I originally thought I had an infection. I thought it had travelled down to my lungs. Sinus infection is gone now.

I hope this flovent will help too. :) Thanks again!

i've had it when run down and when my bronchii have had enough. have not had it lately. i can feel my lungs outlined in my back. i am sorry to say that my chest also hurts some time from it. the whole thing is a super drag. do what you have to do, try to rest, eat well, visit your doc, etc. -17 below sounds very harsh and it would set a lot of people with asthma off.

best wishes to all of you sufferers!
