Hello , my dear HW friends-

Thought i'd post this here...as I'd get the most informative feedback--

I'll try to keep this "short & sweet"...& HOPE I get LOTS...of feedback...(please--?)

OK--Just getting over a really bad cold...sinus issue...& minor bronchitis!

Saw my E/N/T Dr (This Thurs)--he gave me "Medrol Pack"..(6 day supply)  & Zithromax-

Sneezing & post nasal drip...getting better...BUT....have this..REALLY NASTY COUGH! devil

( about 5 days now!)---  I mean...the kind where you feel...your lungs are like wet tissue paper...& you just wanna go down there with your hand..& CLEAR out all this "gunky"...mucous! smhair

Been taking some mild "Children's Dimetapp"...w DM....& antihistimine-(I can NOT take ANY decongestants......cause it gives me lots of irregular heartbeats!

When I cough...I can FEEL...the mucous..."rattling around"...!    Sometimes..I get SOME of it up.....(usually...clear or light yellow)----BUT...not enough!

TWO friends...both recommened Mucinex.....(Guaifenesin)-----& told me to take it w LOTS of fluids....(water...juices....herbal teas)---!

So,,....today...my wife went out & got me a box of "Mucinex"..(brand name..ain't cheap...BUT--I don't care--IF it works!)    600 mg...time release!

OK----WILL this really help?    Does it work?   HOW LONG....before I feel it;s affects?

It is FRIDAY night...(Dec 3)----I took it.....6:30 PM...after dinner..!  And..I'm drinking LOTS of spring water...(and some fruit juice mixed w spring water)---!

WILL my coughs become more "productive"--? confused

Please---get back....HOPEFULLY....with some "postive" feedback--!  (Again...time frame a question...!  Will I notice it...in an hr...two hrs...six hrs...or....after a day or two---AGAIN--JUST took my FIRST dose...6:30 PM)--Thanks--Regards---Rob smilewinkgrin

I don't use it...I try drinking plenty of water and using a saline nasal spray.
You should try it to see if it can help you.

I don't use regular guaifenesin because it doesn't last long enough, but Mucinex 12-hour does work for me. I take it most nights, and mornings when house is very dry. It loosens the mucus.

It works for me, but gives me stomach discomfort--even that I only use it when I have to. I also use a saline spray periodically to keep things at bay.
