Ok, First off I have had sinus issues for a couple years now. I have bottom of the barrel insurance so my doctor options are quite limited. In fact, Medicaid has me go to a public clinic for treatment. I'm essentially convinced that I have chronic sinusitis. Periodically every few months my gums begin to swell and like clock work I find myself at a dental clinic getting a tooth pulled. For a long time I thought I just had bad rotting teeth but now that I've cured my dental woes (after getting like 7 teeth pulled) I find that all my problems are in my sinus'. I cured my dental issues by stop using fluoride products and switched to a tea tree oil toothpaste. Once I started using that my teeth got nice and clean and fine. One of the things my dentist did whenever I was getting ready to get a tooth pulled was she would put me on an anti-biotic. The problem is anti-biotics and me aren't compatible. All they ever do is inflame my sinus' and gums to the point that vicoden cant even combat the pain.
At one point the pain got so bad that I became desperate and started looking up things on the internet. One of the things I was opened up to was neti pots and colloidal silver. I bought some colloidal silver and started rinsing my mouth with that and water (rather than fluoride mouthwash which did nothing for me). I also started using the squeeze bottle and saline solution (with colloidal silver) once a day. This essentially has kept my sinus' at bay up until today. 2 days ago just to run a test I stopped using colloidal silver in my squeeze bottle and just used the saline solution. Well, today I started getting a sharp pain in my left upper cheek area. This in turn has caused my gums in the left side of my mouth to swell immensely although oddly I don't have very much infection in my mouth (I always had alot of infection coming through my gums when having problems). What's strange is this sharp pain that is making my entire head swell has traveled over the last 10 hours from my left upper cheek area around my left ear and now to the back of my head.
Sometimes it hurts suddenly and other times the pain goes away for a few minutes. The only constant is the compactness around the area inside my head. I can "feel" where it is even though it may not hurt at all. I've never felt anything like this before and its kinda freaking me out. I'm used to pain especially in my head and sinus so the pain isn't really bothering me. The fact that this is traveling around my head is what has me worried. I'm assuming this is fungus related (which is what I believe I have had in my sinus' all along). I don't want to be reliant on squeeze bottles and silver to combat this. I want to get rid of it period. The clinic I go has a very long waiting list so getting into the doctor is quite difficult so any at home things or over the counter drugs I can use would be great. If you have any questions just ask and I'll answer.
I know I use alot of natural and vegan products and I know alot of people are skeptical but for a long time these things made me feel very healthy and clean. I'm not totally into natural stuff (I eat alot of meat and such) but things which contain fluoride and SLS I avoid like the plague. I also was a long time smoker (16 years) but I quit last April. After that is actually when I started using alot of natural products and for a solid 6 months I've felt great and have gotten my health back. My only constant issues are with my sinus.
My house is quite dry so I tend to run a Vicks humidifier quite a bit as well.

Welcome to Healingwell. I suggest you still put yourself on the waiting list to be seen by the doc because you really do need to be seen to get to the bottom of these issues. But in the meantime, you can try any otc decongestants to help alleviate the pressure and pain such as Sudafed - but beware - if you use this, use it in the mornings as it can keep you awake at night. Hopefully you can get into the doc soon and get to the bottom of this.

I wouldn't use anything OTC without a medical doctor's OK. Too much stuff out there ends up making us worse.
The problem with sinus infections is that they are often not cured with one round of antibiotics. You should expect to need a second round, maybe with something different, to clear it up.
You should have a list of antibiotics that you don't tolerate and your reactions. Give this to the doctor and your pharmacist. Lots of antibiotics given are the same group - like Avelox, which gives me hives, is in the Cipro group. So I can't take anything from the Cipro group.
Amoxicillin is often given for sinus infections, but I find I need something else after a week or so. It starts to do the work, but doesn't kill off everything. I usually am prescribed a sulfa drug to finish off. It's really hard to get drugs into the sinuses as there isn't a good blood flow and the cavities are large.
Although claims abound, colloidal silver is not effective against bacteria. It delivers only metallic silver. You have to use the silver ion as in silver sulfadiazine - for which you need a prescription.

Hmm the only one I recall the name of that I cant use is Penicillin. I'd have to go dig out all the old ones if I even still have them. I didn't honestly know they had "groups" of them. I just assumed they were just different flavors all doing the same thing. Oh, and thank you for the welcome.

Last night I did a second squeeze bottle with some colloidal silver then went to sleep and felt fine to be honest. This morning though my gums are still swollen and I think the pain might come back (it just feels that way). I'll try and get into the doctors again and see what happens. If gets worse though I might go and try Sudafed in the meantime. Thank you for your help :)

I agree with getting to a good allergist. I used to go to a doctor who kept saying I had a cold and when I finally found the right doctor (and then an allergist) it made all the difference. One obvious thing to consider is whether you have a dust allergy. Try getting a vacuum with a HEPA filter (or borrowing one to see if it helps) and see if that takes away some of the symptoms. Also, with Sudafed, it does work, but prolonged use can raise your blood pressure, so watch that.

You can also buy a hepa filer for the bedroom and other rooms in the house. It really helps.
