Hi everybody!  I'm usually over in A/P (you've probably seen my name since we're 'neighbors' :-) )  Anyway I have a question for you guys.  For a week, I have had an epic headache, congestion (but no mucus or other viral symptoms) and a general run-down, out-of-it feeling.  We have had our Christmas tree for...exactly one week.  I heard someone mention an allergy to pine that included headaches and sinus symptoms.  Could our tree be doing me in?
Thanks for any replies!

p.s. I have never really had previous allergies before...

Hi SC...welcome to the Allergies/Asthma side of the forum :) Yep, you could very well be having an allergic reaction to your tree because allergies can attack with no warning despite prior history or lack thereof. Luckily it's only a week until Christmas so you can try to tough it out until then with the help of otc allergy meds such as Sudafed, Clariten or Zyrtec(this makes you drowsy though). When you get rid of your tree and your symptoms lessen or leave then you will know for sure if it was the tree or not.

Thanks Sherry, and off to the drugstore I go...luckily I'm on break from my classes right now, so I can be a little sleepy without too much trouble. Guess I'll just have to put off the house-cleaning-oh darn!;)
Hugs,
S.C.

There is a non drousy/ non drying sudafed. look for that maybe and try a zyrtec with either
lunch or your dinner in case it makes you sleepy, and yes pine allergies are very common,
can you ask your family maybe to get an artifical tree next year. Sorry about your allergies,
and I'm sorry you have to feel bad for another week....talk about this with your parents...
Hope your feeling better soon...

Thanks Chartreux! Yeah if we find out it was indeed the tree we will get a faker on sale after Christmas for next year! My husband already offered to take it down, bless his heart (I'm 40 btw lol! but thanks for thinking I'm young-love it!)
Will try the suggested otc's for sure.
