Hi everyone!
I've never posted on your forum before, and usually stay in the ostomy area, but I need some advice.

I have suffered from inhalant allergies and asthma for my whole life. Because of another disease, I was put on lots of prednisone and was on it for about 4 years, eliminating my need for inhalers and antihistamines. about 2 years ago, I got to stop taking pred (YAY) and that's when I got a great reminder of how bad my allergies are :(. I and am currently 19 weeks pregnant, and suffering from bad inhalant allergies and daily asthma attacks. I was getting allergy shots, but stopped them when I became pregnant (BIG mistake!). I now am taking benadryl constantly (about every 4 hours), because claritan (the only other antihistamine my OB said is safe) doesn't work for my cat allergies-which are the worst. I have 2 cats and am a veterinary technician-I know, I know-but getting rid of my cats is not an option (they're family).

So my question is, has anyone taken Zyrtec during pregnancy?
and
Do you know of a safe asthma inhaler that can be used daily during pregnancy? I'm currently on albuterol, but was told not to use it on a regular basis. I also had qvar, but was told to stop that.

I need help!
Thanks

p.s. I feel bad about taking benadryl all the time and putting my fetus to sleep. I only feel fetal movement regularly when the benadryl has worn off, and it makes me nervous.

All these questions should be directed to your doctor(s) just to be on the safe side. My kids are older now and they didn't have these types of meds when I was pregnant with them so I can't offer any advice...so sorry. Why were you told not to use Albuterol on a regular basis?

When I was pregnant the focus was keeping a steady oxygen supply to me and my fetus.  My doctors worked with me to figure out the best way to accomplish this.

It is really important to talk with your doctors about everything, including concerns about your fetus getting benedryl.
