I've never posted on your forum before, and usually stay in the ostomy area, but I need some advice.
I have suffered from inhalant allergies and asthma for my whole life. Because of another disease, I was put on lots of prednisone and was on it for about
4 years, eliminating my need for inhalers and antihistamines. about
2 years ago, I got to stop taking pred (YAY) and that's when I got a great reminder of how bad my allergies are :(. I and am currently 19 weeks pregnant, and suffering from bad inhalant allergies and daily asthma attacks. I was getting allergy shots, but stopped them when I became pregnant (BIG mistake!). I now am taking benadryl constantly (about
every 4 hours), because claritan (the only other antihistamine my OB said is safe) doesn't work for my cat allergies-which are the worst. I have 2 cats and am a veterinary technician-I know, I know-but getting rid of my cats is not an option (they're family).
So my question is, has anyone taken Zyrtec during pregnancy?
Do you know of a safe asthma inhaler that can be used daily during pregnancy? I'm currently on albuterol, but was told not to use it on a regular basis. I also had qvar, but was told to stop that.
I need help!
p.s. I feel bad about
taking benadryl all the time and putting my fetus to sleep. I only feel fetal movement regularly when the benadryl has worn off, and it makes me nervous.
