HI all

I am new here but have been reading through the posts for a little while now. I started getting really bad hives at night time from the end of January so for little bit over 2 months now all over body face hands feet etc.
I had been on predisone 10mg for 10 days which i thought only made them worse so wont be taking that again.

I did go for allergy testing and took samples from home of the carpet and a hedge out the front that i thought could be a factor. The carpet came in as something to advoid and the Hedge was a massive reaction. So 3 weeks ago now i have removed the hedge (got it cut out) and the carpet has been all ripped out of the house and floor boards laid. ( bit extreme but i was so over the hives ! ) i have noticed that in the last 2 weeks the hives have been getting less and this last week they have nearlly gone except for in the mornings when there are about a dozen on my legs but they disapear after a few hours. I am still taking half a zyrtec in the morning and half a zyrtec at night i am unsure wether this has helped or removing the carpet and hedge have? If you remove the allergin how long should it take for it to all get out of your system ? I am so over the hives it feels like they are ruling my life sometimes ! i had also had the swollen lip thing going but havent had that thankfully for about 3 weeks now but i have been very careful of foods i have eaten also no sugar, junk etc or medicines.
I am scared to stop taking the zyrtec just yet incase they come back with a vengence! any ideas would be great :) thanks

With carpet, it can take a while to get the allergen out of your home. Carpets are notorious for stirring up the nasties and unfortunately they can cling to your curtains, blinds and even in your furnace ducts.

Btw, you can take your half of Zyrtec in the mornings (if you want) but you might want to try a full one at night. That is the prime time for allergies to hit because everything is settling down.

Hi there ,

I have still been getting the hives in the morning but managable with zyrtec, i did how ever go to the DR and had a full blood test done (get the results on Friday) and i also had a ultra sound and the ultra sound lady said that i have endiometriosis (sorry if thats not spelt right).

Could this possibly be causing the hives? I tried searching on the net but it just says that it can make you more sensitive to allergys nothing about constant hives??? I havent had the pain either that the site said i should be having is this normal ? i am not sure if this is now in the right thread or not but if someone has ever had anything like this did going on the contraception pill help? I am just worried about stirring the hives up worse !

Thanks

I can't answer your questions about contraception and possibly making your hives worse...I have never been on b/c's. But as far as I know, endo doesn't cause hives. Hopefully someone will come along and be able to better answer your questions.
