For the past few days (about 4) my nose has been itching like crazy on the inside (both nostrils) and so I scratch it by rubbing the outside and the more I do that the more I hurt myself I guess, and then it starts to bleed a little on the inside (from both nostrils). As the blood dries it gets itchy again and well it's basically a cycle. I haven't been able to sneeze at all for the past 4 days which is infuriating because it just makes my nose tickle >.< As far as I know, I am not allergic to anything (never have been) so why does my nose seem to be hating me now? :S Any help is appreciated, thanks.

btw I have never been prone to nose bleeds.

Have you felt in your nose to see if you have sores? Sores can show up in the nose from a variety of reasons. But you should go to the doctor to find out what is going on.

Welcome to the forum, muffincakes.

As Sherry advised, your ENT can look inside the nose and advise you.

For a little relief in the meantime, have you tried a saline spray? I prefer the pressurized ones with only saline, no additives. I also get relief from dry nostrils from Ayr gel, which I use at night when I'm in a dry environment, like now that the house heat is on. Don't use petroleum jelly, only water soluble products.

No I have no sores in my nose.

&& I haven't used any sprays yet, but I have used Vick's and that stopped it for a short while before returning. I will try to find some saline sprays though.

I get occasional sores in my nose too.
My doctor diagnosed it as a recurring cold sore.
He put my on Valtrex (generic) and it really helps clear it up.
Hope this helps.

DO you happen to be on any pain killers? I know stupid question, but I know that everytime I have had to have morphine, or another pain like that, I want to rip my nose off! It is an odd side effect that has lasted up to a week for me.
and the others are totally right, just some simple saline should work nicely.
Good luck!
