I always thought that having Asthma was one disease, didn't you? I have asthma.

Plus I was told fairly recently that I also have COPD. I always thought that, too, was one disease, didn't you?

Well, until recently they were considered separate diseases. Now, however I've found out that by having Chronic Asthmatic Bronchitis, Chronic bronchitis and emphysema that they are now all being grouped together and called COPD, or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease!

These are all considered diseases that people have difficulty releasing air from the lungs...

To read further on these lung problems, I've found a couple of sites that may give you further information.

Best Wishes to you all!! Teri

Good Morning, Everyone!

To give you some further info on COPD or Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, I've done a bit more reading and found that a lot of the symptoms of this disease are quite similar to asthma. Some of the symptoms are coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath (SOB), coughing up phlegm and that tight feeling in your chest.

There are 3 classifications of COPD. Mild, Moderate and Severe.

Smoking is a major cause of this disease and one of the best things you can do to help yourself, is to quit smoking!

Teri

Also very disappointed to see that COPD or emphasema is not even listed as diseases on side site panel.

Do they not realize how many are living with COPD and do not even know it?
