Ok - we are selling our older couch to make room for a new set. It's in decent condition. We do have two dogs, but they've just laid on the couch - no messes, etc. We vacuum it well regularly with a hepa filter vacuum. Now, there was a lady that stopped by today to see it and really likes it. However, she is concerned because we have the two dogs and her children are allergic to pet dander. Would sweeping the couch with the hepa filter vacuum make it safe enough for her to take home and use? She has a message in to a veterinarian friend she knows and is waiting to hear back from them.

As I understand it, pet dander is just not on the surface of fabrics but it can embed in the foam inside as well.

No, it wouldn't help. I am allergic, and my ex insisted on having a dog anyway. When we split up, I kept the furniture, he kept the dog, and I kept having allergy problems, despite moving to a new home that had never had a pet in it before.
