I don't really know where else to post this, so hopefully this is the right place. Over 2 years ago I started getting cysts behind the base of my ear. It started out as soft lumps that ballooned and then burst, and now has led to significant scarring/disfigurement. At first it was confined to the back of my ear, but now has spread to my earlobe, and the front of my ear. I now have the same problem with my other ear, although not as severe. I've been to see doctors, who were perplexed by this and couldn't provide any helpful advice for eliminating these cysts other than through surgery, which doesn't remove the possibility of them growing back afterwards. What can I do? Why are these cysts occurring? It's only been getting worse as time passes. I'm only 18, and it's difficult to live with this everyday.

I'll provide some pictures to show you what's been happening:

I'm sorry you having to deal with this. I too am a "cysty" person. I had one on my salivary gland (on the front side of my ear) that I had to have removed under anesthesia plus I have had many removed or drained over the years. I asked my doctor about this and she said that some people are more prone to them than others. I do have a family history of them, my dad and brothers get them really bad. I am not much help but I just wanted to let you know, that you are not alone.
