I was prescribed prednisone for the first time in my life 7 days ago. This is the plan they have me on:

40mg for 3 days, then 30mg for 3 days, then 20mg for 3 days, then 10 mg for 3 days.

So far I've been have increased heart rate and anxiety.

Is this a safe way to wean off prednisone or is there possible severe withdrawal?

I'm a young adult female if that helps.

Only five days left on the medicine.....hmmm
You could go ask your doctor if you can.

Should be fine if this is the only time you've ever been on steroids and your adrenals are in good shape.

Might want to take B-Complex vitamins and Vitamin C; your adrenals will likely be affected from this for up to 1 year and the nutrition will help support the return to normal adrenal function.

Yes, that is a safe wean. This is only a short course of pred...if you were on it longer, than the wean would be longer.
