Usually you should get instant relief from artificial tears. Some people need to use them more frequently tho. How often do you use them? Do you know the cause of your dry eye? Have you seen an opthamologist?

Did your doctor prescribe these to you? Restasis are prescribed and can take a couple of weeks to work.
Do not use "Visine" eye drops, Make sure you see an eye doctor, dry eyes can be very painful, warm water
can help. get a wash cloth really really warm and wrap it up on a wooden spoon the moist heat helps your eye's.

It can depend on type and brand that you use. I only use preservative free tears and use the preservative free gel at night before bed. For me tears and Restasis alone aren't enough so I have permanent tear duct plugs.
