Have you ever wondered why you, or other loved ones, or friends have allergies? Did they just 'get' them? Did they 'inherit' them?

What do you think?

This is a quiz and I will tell you the answer, but let's have a little fun here speculating about this...

Come on Ya'll join on in with this! yeah

Ok, I'll bite
Let's see, I believe that a sensitivity can be inherited. That if a parent is sensitive to a certain allergen, the chances of their child getting an allergy is increased........yes? Now where my parents got theirs from is beyond me since I never asked them. So do I pass or did I flunk? I never was any good at quizes, the whole deer caught in the headlight kind of sydrome this gal has!

I believe that we are more susceptible to different diseases and disorders if our parents and close relatives have them but not inherit the diseases itself.

Ok, when do I get my "F". I have no idea of the answer, I just took a shot in the dark and it sounded good. smile

The answer is Yes and No.

"Most allergies are inherited, which means they are passed on to children by their parents. People inherit a tendency to be allergic, although not to any specific allergen. If a child develops an allergy, it is very likely that at least one of his or her parents has allergies.

Being exposed to allergens at certain times when the body’s defenses are low or weak, such as after a viral infection or during pregnancy, also may contribute to the development of allergies."

Hope this helped to answer anyone's questions re allergies and where they originate!

Hugs, Teri

hehehe, maybe I can have a C too??? Actually I've read that about allergies being inherited and that being exposed to certain things can increase your risk of allergies. I just didn't remember the second half until I've read your answer.

Phew, I thought you were going to wait forever to give us the answer! I am going away for the holiday weekend and I couldn't go unless you told me what the answer was. So I guess I can go and enjoy myself now then eh? Thank you! smile
