I have IBS but also have white mucus in my throat that I have had for months and months now. It won't go away and a lot of my friends said I could have allergies? The white mucus is white phlegm its like sticky spit and I can feel it on the bottom of my throat.

What tests does the doctors run to check if you do? I've had bloods done many times but nothing ever came back wrong. All normal. I eat diary a lot and drink milk in tea. I also eat crisps daily but can't think of anything else?

Anyone have an idea?

I'm not a doctor but you could have thrush in your throat. I think doctors prescribe a rinse you end up swallowing to help get rid of it.

You could also have GERD. Do you have heartburn, coughing or lots of burping and gas?

Your throat will increase the mucus coat to try to protect your esophagus from the acid.

Try some antiacid like zantac and see if it goes away.

You might have silent reflux.
Ask your doctor to give you a barium swallow. It will be able to tell if your refluxing.

I heard this before. How do I get tested for this? My doctor is sick of seeing me. I don't know if he will be happy seeing me again and thinking I have reflux when I don't. I don't know if I should waste his time but I am unsure what this is.

Try taking prevacid or prilocet for a few weeks to see if you feel better. If you feel a change then go to your doctor and tell him what was going on and how you feel after the medicine.
Ask him if he will refer you to a gastroenterologist for further testing. If you done need a referral skip your PC and go straight to the GI.

I am seeing a GI in a weeks time thank god. Why would I need to see him quick about this? What could it be? I will be seeing my GP on Friday so will ask what he can give me.

You got me worried now. :/ I hope it won't be something very serious.

Gerd can cause damage over time to your esophagus, lungs, voice box, sinuses, teeth, and epiglotis.
I had Gerd for 10 years. I developed benign stomach polyps, sinus infections, lung infections, damaged epiglotis, and 16 cavities. I'd loose my voice for weeks at a time.
Surgery to repair my weak LES (opening to stomach) and a hiatal hernia (part of my stomach was above my diaphram) has stopped all of the nasty problems for me.

Please don't think that an antacid with totally cure you if you have a weak LES. It just cuts down on pH of the acid. The acid is still there messing with you.
Go to the GERD forum here to talk with others who suffer from it.

I also had a severe asthma and my doctor advised me to go frequently on the beach so I can breath fresh air. Good thing my sister lives near the beach and she also asked me to stay with her. So I hired removalist sydney to bring all my things and stuff and for two months that I have been staying in my sister's house, I would say that the asthma has all gone.

They say salt air is good for breathing problems. Something to do with the ions.
