I just read an article this morning that was discussing that they've found that people with asthma seem to have an increased risk of having panic disorder, especially in younger people. For further reading see below.

I don't know how old Cait is~however, there are a couple of programs that are not only fun, but very healthful as well, that use breathing techniques as part of their programs.

There is Tai Chi, which I've actually tried at home, and it is very peaceful-though I think most people/teens/young adults included, are better served doing a program like this with others participating and learning with them. There is also Yoga, and meditation.

They have found that most of us don't breathe right and if you have lung disease, panic attacks, or are just not breathing properly~these will help give you the skills. tongue

Hi Lyn! smile

My daughter, Britt, 17, has had asthma since very little as well - she's been doing a lot better since puberty when the allergist said a lot of girls have a tendency at that time to out-grow asthma. She's not outgrown it, but it has seemingly gotten better. I think in Britt's case, she's been in band and blowing a trumpet and now a baritone, that is what has helped her tremendously to build up her lung strength. So if Cait's in Yoga already, that is bound to help her lung strength, because I know they use breathing techniques with that as well! smile

Best wishes and Hugs to you both!! Teri smile
