This is a wonderful article and very helpful~Anyone who has asthma, or thinks they do, should read this!
"Patients with high-risk asthma are those more likely to require hospitalization, emergency department (ED) visits, or to experience fatal or near-fatal episodes of asthma."

Great article Teri!
I had my first major asthma attack yesterday that landed me in the ER. I was very lucky to have such a nice nurse at my pulmonologist's office. I spoke to her in the morning and told her the problems I was having. When she called me back (as I was driving to a cardiologist appt no less!) I was having a lot of trouble breathing. She told me to turn my car around and go the the ER immediatly! She called the hospital ahead of time to let them know I was coming. I had three breathing treatments and was given prednisone. After it was all over, I could finally breath! Yay! I hadn't realized how bad I had gotten. I've never been that bad before. All the albuterol and prednisone made me feel like I wanted to jump out of my skin. yuck!
I called the nurse back to let her know how I was feeling and to thank her. I've got an appt to see my pulmonologist on Monday now to talk about
what happened.

Yup those nebulizers (med.s') and the prednisone can make you want to run around the block a few times, hey?! You take care and keep us posted on what the Dr. tells you!

My Dr. just decided to increase my Advair Discus from 250/50 to 500/50 twice a day now...I've had asthma and some trouble with my breathing since January. I had PFT's done a few weeks ago and they said I had mild emphysema and ongoing asthma, along with a possible interstitial lung problem? My PCP is also recommending another Pulmonologist for me to see~I should hear next week...
Anyone else with this type of lung problem?
