My ENT said don't take antibiotics. He has only diagnosed my sinus infection right once in 4 years. I had another head CT which showed only a little inflammation. It took 3 weeks to get permission for the test and get it done. His office girl didn't even call it in until Friday after my Tuesday appt.
Sinus wash 4-6 times a day plus steroid in it didn't help. It started into my lungs, sore throat.
Yesterday I couldn't stand the coughing, pain and green gunk anymore. I got my PCP to prescribe something - Biaxin 1/2 tablet twice a day. I got bad diarrhea half an hour after taking each half.
Today I'm on sulfa - Septra. Even with my sulfite intolerance I've been able to tolerate it so far.
My ENT said see a neurologist. My chronic headache may be due to the wreck I was in 4 years ago. But I still have a deviated septum from the broken nose, after sinus surgery that only made things worse. Maybe I should call the one I saw before - who ordered a brain MRI that diagnosed another sinus infection.
