I am 47, female..last oct. 2012 i suffer from cough, fever and muscle pain.. i just take my own medicine via counter, antibiotics like amoxicillin, pain releiver and salbutamol.. i have so much back pain . it last for a month.once when i cough a lot, i feel something in my throat that hurt so much specially when i swallow food, theres something in there clogging in my air passages. on December, i was completely fine, no cough, flu and fever, but still my throat aches when i swallow. i go to the doctor and she told me i have some swelling lymph node on my neck so she gave me antibiotic. i have my ultrasound and told me i have thyroid problem so she gave me euthyrox for 1 month,
i have my second opinion to other doctor , he told me it was just an allergy, he check my throat and told me its nothing but an allergy, she gave me medicine for 7 days but it doesnt make me feel better. i just dont go back to doctor , thinking it was just an allergy.. i sleep everynight feeling more mucus in my throat.and even i just swallow nothing.. i still feel something was there but its not painful.ive been to a lot of nervous breakdown when i started my age 40,, i have all my feeling that i will die at night bec of my feeling that i cant breath.. but i wake up in the morning feeling good.. i still feel that there something in my throat at daytime but i dont mind it not until at bedtime where it was hard to breath.. does anyone feel the same?

It could be so many things, thyroid, allergies, auto immune diseases, but we aren't medical proffessionals (some of us are, but we can not give medical advice, per forum rules). We speak of personal experience, and as a person with thyroid problems, allergies, and auto immune diseases, I'd say keep seeing the doctor, and perhaps an endo? An endo dr covers my thyroid and diabetes treatment. Perhaps it can be something combined? Allergies and thyroid as an example. Sorry I can't be much help, this is better for a doctor.

I agree with smurfy start with the endocrin doctor and then maybe a GI doctor since your having throat problems might be acid reflux or stomach issues, so try those doctors first to get things pinpointed better.
Many well wishes and keep us posted as to how your doing...

Hi Tetchie
I have been having some of the same problems. I was fine and in February I had a really bad bout with a flu. Was diagnosed with flu, strep and bronchitis all at the same time was in bed totally for over 12 days and then ended up with pleurisy just as I was feeling a little better and then just as I was getting over that I contracted a stomach bug! I have not been the same since. My throat has caused me all kinds of problems. I do know from experience that some antibiotics makes it worse. I was taking Ibuprofen in fairly large doses for the pleurisy pain and my throat got so much worse. I have an appt July 10th to see a new dr. I am hoping to find some answers. I am sensitive to ALOT of things.. Smells, chemicals and ALOT of meds. I did start taking Shaklee Pro Biotics and they have help Ed my throat problem ALOT but it is still there. Sometimes even the muscles feel so tight in my throat and my breathing is affected it feels like I need to cough but notjhing moves when I do. My chest rattles some but not if I consciously take a deep breath and am really paying attention :( one thing that has really helped though is to calm myself when it's overwhelming me. I have found that when I am feeling anxious and like its gonna do me in that it is so much worse. I started taking Mucinex yesterday to see if it will help and and hoping to get my Vitamin D level checked at doctor.
I feel better when I first wake up usually and then as I get moving and trying to get things done its seems to get worse all dayby evening I am pretty frazzled by it all :( I thought I pulled muscles or damaged something when I had the flu because I coughed so hard .. It's been a hard time for me and I can tell by your post it has you too. I hope it helps to know someone else is having a similar problem. It helped me to read your post. I know this is long and I didn't put everything in it , it would take way too long! I hope your day is better and you feel better :)

Very possibly this is all from Candida overgrowth from taking antibiotics. A good quality probiotic supplement may be very helpful, and see also candidapage.com/ for more info.

Achythroat, it could be an actual condition or just in your head. I say this because I've sort of felt that way before. It almost always happens at night and feels like a lump your throat, get thick saliva, then the throat suddenly feels a little tight, so you start to think about all the bad things it could be and that starts your heart racing and feeling that you're not breathing normally.

I figure it doesn't happen in the day because one is so distracted with other things but at night the mind wanders... I once went to the er because I thought I was having an allergic reaction, but it was just a bit of a panic attack. Sometime after that I was given a pill for gerd and that seems to have helped the tight throat feeling. But now and then Ill feel that way and when I do I just try to fall asleep listening to music or watching tv, and not think about. You should still let your doc know, whether you think its a physical ailment or not, it's not a nice feeling to live with.
