I was given an allergy test a few years ago after getting hives which went away thankfully. I found out Im allergic to cedar, juniper, molds and grass. I live in Texas and we have all of those in abundance. I was prescribed flonase and singulair which helped some. I've also been alternating between allegra and zyrtec, allegra works better for me. My main problem now is post nasal drip. I feel like I have mucus in the back of my throat and it's irritating my stomach ultimately making me nauseated. Astelin nasal spray was prescribed to me but after taking all of these medications I still have post nasal drip. Is there any other prescription medication that would get rid of my post nasal drip? I'm at my wits end and am even considering a move out of Texas. Can anyone help?

Moving probably will make things worse, molds are worse up north. Have you tried saline washs or rinses? Or a saline nasal spray. Or you could ask your allergists doctor about decongestants, like sudafed...Maybe start a journal to find out what might be causing this. It could also be a sinsus infection and you might need to see a ENT doctor, but first start a journal and then talk to your allergy doctor and work from there and try a saline nasal spray....many well wishes and hope your doing better soon...

Thanks for the reply. I was starting to think no one cared lol. I have tried saline rinses but since my nose is always inflamed it takes a long time plus a bit of pressure to get the wash to rinse from one nostril to the other. Sudafed and steroids help when im completely congested. But right now I can breathe just fine I just have this feeling of nausea and the stuff in the back of my throat. The last time I saw an allergist she only suggested zyrtec. My ent seems to thing I dont have a big problem and said mucinex would help. After that they suggested I direct any other concerns to my primary doctor. These doctors don't seem to be on my side but then again maybe i'm looking for a magic cure that doesn't exist.

Do you have a fever? as nausea and fever might indicate a sinsus infection, so maybe call your pcp and get seen and maybe a strep test to make sure it's not infection and try the sudafed to see if it can help...
people here do care it's just that it's not easy to try and help out, as we do not always get all the info, like I did not know you had tried saline rinses, what about just using the saline spray? I cannot tolerate the washes or rinses but I do use the saline spray. See what your pcp has to say and try that...I live in Houston Area, but grew up in Michigan so the molds up north can be just as big of a problem should you move plus it snows and snow is so very hard to shovel and you'd need all wheel drive car's or special radial tires put on your car for winter's up north, I lived in Oklahoma and the Ice storms are crazy there in the winter's...Hubby was USAF so we moved a lot...The humidity is worse in Florida and I know friends that moved there and back to Texas...try calling your pcp for further help...wish I could offer better advise...keep us posted as to what your pcp says...

Nope no fever. I was starting to suspect a sinus infection though. I'll definitely be calling my doctor to see what's going on. Thanks for all of the information and advice. I started a journal to keep track of things and am trying a saline spray. I still like the idea of moving out of Texas but that's just because I've lived here forever.

Oh, I see, well it's definetly different in other states, maybe when you can try a visit outside of Texas, to see before an actual move...It's already cold again in Michigan, my folks live up there, I visited them this past June and it was 69 with a cold wind and over night got down to 40 and I ended up sick...it was like our Winter on June 6 th...October is usually a nice time to visit other States as you can see leaves changing colors and apple tree's,try fresh apple cider....Just an idea for you to consider...
Keep us posted on how your pcp visit goes...many well wishes....
