Cigarette smoke is aan irritant that always induces asthma attacks for me. I try to avoid it, but it's difficult living where I do. My biggest problem is I can't go to restaurants or bars (I'm 26) with friends or co-workers because all the local places allow smoking. There are weekly get-togethers for my office at a nearby sports bar and I'm always left out. Consequently, I find it hard to make friends or go out anywhere, since I've run into smokers lighting up right outside places like the shopping mall.

I am wondering if anyone has any advice on how I can stop being so sensitive to smoke. I take Singulair and am able to run, cycle, and other various activities with no problems.

This really is difficult having this type of allergy, or trigger! I am an exsmoker and I've got asthma myself. It's unbelievable to me now that I actually enjoyed smoking! It's not a trigger for my asthma, but it just makes me feel ill when I'm in that type of environment now a days - My sinuses clog up more and my throat gets sore, eyes water, etc. The town that I live in has made smoking illegal in any business here, this has helped tremendously!

So with all that said, I'm not sure what is available except perhaps 'symptomatically' to help with this problem - and avoidance.
