Hi everyone, I'm new to this. So I have a doc appointment in 2 weeks but I'm eager to check if anyone knows what I can possibly be going through. I've had outdoor allergies for over 2 months now (lots of phlem, dry throat, inflammation of the tonsils, and that's it; no runny nose or constant sneezing). I saw my doctor about a month ago and got allergy medicine along with a blood test which came out fine. My tonsils are no longer swollen but it worries me that I constantly (everyday) have a dry throat. I don't know if it's due to the phlem? Because it never goes away nor its phlem that I can take out, its more like post nasal drip but idk if that's whats causing my dry throat. Besides that, it worries me more that for over 3 months I've had this swelling in the front of my neck. Its soft swelling. It gives me no pain. I don't have a hoarse voice nor a cough. I do not have any other symptoms other than those mentioned. At first I thought it was a goiter or a thyroid swelling problem but if it was (or so I read) any hormonal imbalance due to the thyroid would come out in blood tests and mine came out fine. The last time I went to the doc she touched the swelling area but didn't say anything of it she just said "oh you have a bit swelling here" and that was that. But its not normal! The swelling is like a long line running across my neck from left to right. Its only the bottom part of my neck. You cant see it but you can feel it. Has anyone else experienced this? It doesn't look like swollen lymph nodes either cus like I said its more like a straight line and it worries me so much that it doesn't go away :( I'm getting checked in 2 weeks for dry throat and that swelling sensation but wanted to hear from someone first if something like this has happened to anybody.

The dry mouth can be perhaps a side effect from your medication, as many medications have that side effect. THe swelling can be swollen lymph nodes, or even simply those fiber tissue things. Ugg I know what I'm trying to say but I can't think of the name. The best way I can think of explaining it (ok people help me out on the name lol) is in breasts, us females, can get lumps from fiber tissues that are harmless. Those lump things can happen anywhere. Unfortunally, we are not doctors, so we can't really tell you what it is. Perhaps you can try an OTC benedryl to see if the swelling goes down. Keep at it with those doctors and keep us posted!

Good Evening,

Good job Smurfy ! I will tag on to your post. Were you looking for the word, fibrocystic?

A person with neck swelling has enlargement of the soft tissues that cover the neck. Neck swelling may be caused by an injury, inflammation, or infection. Treatment for neck swelling depends upon the underlying cause.

Benign skin conditions can cause small areas of the neck to appear swollen. Swelling of the lymph nodes in the neck is a common symptom of many different types of viral and bacterial infections as well as many benign disorders. Lymph nodes are small organs distributed in the body which collect fluid. They get swollen if inflammatory fluid deposits in them.

In mild cases of neck swelling, treatment may not be required.

Be sure to follow up with your Dr. if anything changes in the swelling such as increase in the area of the swelling or pain, ETC.

Remember I am not a physician so please do stay in close contact with your Dr.

Kindly,

Kitt

Thank you for your responses! And yes I cant wait to see what the Dr says. The day after I wrote my post I decided to try out Ibuprofen since its good for inflammation and 12 hours later I felt almost nothing in that swelling area! Its going back to normal I guess, but I am also guessing once the med is gone and I don't take some more it'll come back like its been for 3 months. IDK if its my muscles? I want to relate it to my allergies because if im 100% without allergies, I don't get that dry throat nor swelling anywhere. But im not sure. The swelling looks like this: \__/ you know, like across my neck. Its weird. Ive never had that type o "allergy" symptom but again, when im off from any allergies I don't get swelling or anything. Again thanks for the responses!
