I have been having shortness of breath, chest pain and tightness, and heart palpitations for 3 months.I was diagnosed with mild asthma in 2006.I took an EKG,Blood work,Stress Test, all of which came back normal. But my symptoms are still the same. You know how after you're working out,you feel out of breath, and then you catch your breath, and gradually your breathing goes back to how it was feeling before you started working out?I feel like I am somewhere in between when you start to catch your breath, and when you start to feel the way you were feeling before you began working out.Thats the way I feel all the time. And it doesn't take much exertion for me to feel short of breath again, and also for it to feel like my heart is beating faster than normal.I took a pro air inhaler three times, and it hasn't helped.Should I take an angiogram?Does anybody know what could be wrong with me?

Phillip, Welcome to Healing Well! I am sorry you are going through those alarming symptoms. It terrifies myself, when I have a real bad asthma attack. Have you seen your pulmologist yet? Have you tried preventive medication such as advair, alvesco, so on daily? I'm sorry we can't be much help, and we can't tell you what is wrong with you. We don't have the medical knowledge, as we are not doctors, and if we are doctors, we're not allowed to dispense medical advice here. Please see your doctor and keep us updated. I do hope you feel better soon!

You were dx in 2006 and I assume you are seeing a Dr. as you have a RX inhaler. ProAir (albuterol sulfate) Inhalation Aerosol is indicated  for the treatment or prevention of bronchospasm with reversible obstructive airway disease and for the prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm. If you are out of your inhaler and you continue to be SOB with exertion you should contact your Dr. for further instruction.

If you feel you are in a medical crisis present to the closest ER or call 911.

Wishing you the best and hope you seek the help you need.

Kindly,

Kitt

Kind of sounds like exercise induced asthma and you need to get into your doctor and get a medication routine that will work for you. You might need a steroid type inhaler along with the pro air to keep your asthma in control during the workouts. So you do need to talk to your doctor about a better action plan for you. You must tell your doctor you do regular exercise! Hope this helps and call and get seen by your doctor.
