I'm new to the asthma game, sort of. Had it when I was much younger, and was recently diagnosed again the other day due to chest pain that felt like pleurisy and a deep cough.

I've been given an albuterol inhaler and a spacer. Does anyone else have trouble mastering this? My lungs are kind of crap right now so it's quite hard for me to breathe in enough where I feel I'm filling them up without making the spacer whistle the whole time. I don't know how slow a breath I can do but it feels like I'm not doing enough if I actively try to make it not whistle at all.

Any suggestions? I've only done this with the spacer twice so far. 2 puffs, every 4 hours or so as needed.

Go to your doctor and explain you difficulties with the spacer and you might then get prescribed a nebulizer treatment to help get your inhaling in. So ask your doctor if nebulizer treatments would help.
Keep us posted and many well wishes...
