I have post nasal drip for 4 years already. It all started one day in April 2010 when I went out on a dinner with a friend and we had fish. My fish was poorly cooked, almost raw and I didn't notice until I ate most of it. After 1 hour when I was on bed already I got ill. Big yellow balls came out from my mouth, high fever, felt so cold even if environment was warm..
I got antibiotics prescript
ed and I healed well except that at the 5th or 6th day I felt I couldn't swallow, like there was something in my throat. I never felt anything like that in my life before. I tried to spit and there was always phlegm. I am not sure if it came from my nose or if it was coming from my throat or somewhere near (can throat generate mucus all the time??). Not sure if it was my throat or if mucus was dripping behind my nose to the throat to protect it. I seriousy don't know.
However I felt that after the next year it began to damage my stomach and lungs. I always feel a pain in the right side of the chest, silbings and phlegm moving on my chest (besides the one in my throat or under it. I just can't explain because I can't see) and I can't breath completely with my right lung
I went to several ents and told me a bunch of different things. Some of them said I have polyps, a deviated septum and one bigger turbinate. I don't know but I am sure these were already before this all started
Then more recent ones found out that I also have reflux. But in my opinion it was caused because of swallowing mucus 24x7. I must note I never had a single problem with stomach before this all started and no lungs problems except with asthma when I was a child, which dissapeared when I was 8 and I was 23 when this started so I don't think it's asthma (unless I developed asthma again due to swallowing mucus and coughing all the time)
I am using omeprazol for a month now and seems all my stomach problems have resolved
I am extremely tired of this. I don't know if it's mucus draining from the back of my nose to the throat, mucus on the throat or just below it or chest, or the saliva that I make. I feel everything is on the right side of my nose, throat and chest
It affects my life seriously because I am coughing all the time, spitting and swallowing, my voice gets hoarse from time to time and if I laugh too much I began to cough because of congestion.
I also would like to know why people that goes under nose surgery to get everything corrected doesn't solve post nasal drip, which is what we all want gone.
What's the solution to this annoying problem?? Why is it triggered? I read and researched but many people seem to have tried everything with no solution. It can't be that hard!!
I have tried nasal sprays and none worked. Only one thing worked for 2 weeks, a shot of Trigon Depot. It was wonderful!
