For the past few months, or so I been experiencing odd burning/stinging sensations, as well as pressure in/around my left maxillary sinus, and spheroidal sinus.

My doctor suspects sinusitis, but he is not completely certain. He prescribed amoxicillin mid May, it did not cure me. Now my doctor wants me to see a ENT. Trying to get a appointment with the local one, is next to impossible...

What should I do in the mean time? I've been in a lot of pain, and I'm scared what's going to happen next.

Welcome to the forum, Pink Ink.

Sinusitis is just an inflammation of the sinuses. Doesn't really tell you anything. I presume he meant a sinus infection.

Amoxicillin often doesn't kill sinus bugs. There's hardly any blood flow there. Usually you have to take something like a sulfa drug. That's why you see an ENT.

A lot of us run around with chronic sinus infections. I keep mine under control with saline sinus washing. Go to any pharmacy or grocery store and get the large size bottle with saline packets and follow the directions.

The maxillary sinuses drain upward, so after a wash if you keep your head tipped down low they should drain.

If your sinuses are making really thick gunk you can use something like OTC Mucinex 12 hour. There's a generic for that too. It thins the mucus so the cilia can move it out.

You still need to see the ENT to make sure nothing else is going on, maybe a little polyp or something. We're not doctors here, so take our advice with a packet of salt.

If you take any pain reliever besides Tylenol please take with food. If you take Tylenol make sure not to overdo. You could try ice packs (bags of rice in freezer is good) around the area that hurts.

There are saline sprays over the counter which might help in terms of the problem.

Hope you feel better and don't do anything too radical while waiting to see doc.

Let us know how it goes.

I hope you get to feeling better. One thing I would suggest is walking around outside in your environment and see what plants or weeds in the nearby woods are blooming. Take note, and also maybe cut them down if plausible. It is possible also that you have a toxin build up in your system and maybe a cleanse would help.

Dairy has been associated with sinus problems. If you are doing any dairy I would leave it alone and see if it makes a difference.

biaxin, zythromax, leviquin and amoxicillian are all the best antibiotics for sinus infections. sufla based rarely works.
