I was diagnosed with exercise induced asthma as a child. However, I played sports and rarely ever used my inhaler. What did effect me was every fall and spring I would get a sore, scratchy throat which would move down into my chest causing a full blown asthma attack. I would be bedridden for 2/3 days where I would be out of breath just rolling over in bed. I would cough so much my back would be sore. I know the seasonal changes probably caused it, but has anyone else had these symptoms. my inhaler would only help for about 30 minutes and would make my cough unproductive. I outgrew these attacks but now in my 30s they have returned.
any stories would be appreciated.

Why are you not using a preventative inhaler? If you know that seasonal allergies are going to kick your asthma into gear twice a year, you should have a steroidal inhaler ready to go when the season begins. My personal rule is that if I have to use my bronchodilator more than twice a week it is time to start my Pulmicort.

The only way to stay well when you have asthma is to prevent a flare up from even starting.
