This following is a post that I put up on the Cardiovascular Forum.  I decided to place it here as well, especially for those of you (me) that have allergies to medications!!  Hugs, Teri

There was another post where someone mentioned that they carried all their medical information with them in their car!

That's a great idea!! yeah

I, myself was asked several years ago by an emergency room tech. and an EMT to please make a copy of all the following things to make it easier for them to be able to do their jobs and help save my life.

Your Name

Address

Phone Number

Cell Number

Next of Kin and their Number

All Doctor's names and phone numbers

Medical Allergies

List all Surgeries

List all Diagnoses

Medications that you are currently taking, including PRN or as needed med.'s such as "Tylenol", or an inhalor that you use only occasionally.

I carry this with me in my purse at all times and I keep the info on my computer (saved), so I can change/or alter things as they occur.

I hope this helps someone else out!! yeah

Today, another member asked me about 'Medic alert' type bracelets and while doing a search, I located a link right here on HealingWell.com that offers this!  So today, I'm ordering one for myself - especially for medication allergies!

I ordered my allergy bracelet and it should arrive in just a few days from the American Medical Co.  The front of the bracelet will tell emergency workers what my main health conditions are and the back will list my allergies.

They had several selections - I'll let you know when I see mine in person!

I got a bracelet from Medical alert and it's beautiful! I was quite impressed, I haven't had one before but I figured I should get one since I have allergies to some meds. Never know when one is going to become unconcious and better safe then sorry. I tried finding ones in stores but usually they have just the ones for diabetes and heart conditions, but this one engraved everything I needed and I got it within 2 days.

Sherry, I think it's just a great idea, no matter where one finds a bracelet - just so they have one! I've actually been so ill in an ambulance, that they were looking for my bracelet! Eek So never again.
I had a hard time deciding which one I liked - ended up getting the sterling silver with a pretty chain and a charm to go with it, that sort of makes it stand out, but look pretty! At least my wrist will look good, if I'm sick!! smile

I was just researching for these alarms for my mother. I'll tell you this ... a bit confusing .. too much info. I found these 2 sites.

'lifestation' this one has a good article on choosing a medical 'alamedicalalarmsusa' this is another one I found interesting.

Has anyone bought any from other companies?

Hi Kelly and Welcome to HealingWell!! yeah

I can imagine that finding something so that your Mom is secure would definitely be mind easing for you!  I cannot recommend these sites, as I've never heard from anyone using them personally.  Perhaps someone else has and can offer some insight.

Does your Mom have allergic reactions to something in the environment, or medications...?

Take care.

Hi everyone,

I would just like to add some additonal info. At any hospital, there are brochures to the medic alert company.

Also, they are coming up with more than just a bracelet to purchase. The brochure has necklaces, bracelets, childrens items now as well.

Have a great day!

Hi Teri,

Thanks for the welcome!.  tongue

Just a little about why I chose this room to visit.  My twins, have cystic fibrosis and sometimes they have respiratory symptoms much like asthma.  They do wheeze from time to time.

My grandaughter (2 1/2) has apparent allergies and the ENT doc is investigating her allergy status.  She sounds as tho she wheezes and has since birth.  When I listen to her with a stethescope, she is not wheezing.  The ENT doc has given my daughter a list of things to do at home to clear the air of anything that might be giving her allergies.  It's gonna be a long road I am afraid to find out whats really going on.

Have a great day!

Hi Kathy! tongue

I'm sorry about your son's and all that they must go through!  Plus now your grandbaby, presenting a tough diagnosis.  She's pretty young yet, but some allergists do testing at younger ages - My daughter was about 4 or so? when I brought her in - she had asthma so bad, that we needed to know what was causing it - turned out to be lots of things and many we couldn't do much about.

You take care, Kathy, I know all this is rough on you as well!

Good Luck!

Hugs, Teri tongue
