Welcome to the forum, huie.

Are you sure it's a cold and not a sinus infection? Are you seeing a doctor for this?

I have an ENT who usually does not diagnose my frequent sinus infections. It has to get to the point where it shows up on an MRI or CT, and then he does treat it very well, except that I don't tolerate the medicine very well.

Sinus infections are hard to treat because there is very little blood circulation in the sinuses. That makes it hard to get medicine to the area of infection.

Now I just see my PCP when an infection starts getting to my throat and lungs. I treat myself mostly with sinus washes, which gives pretty good pain relief. Sometimes I use one of the sprays or inhalers my allergist prescribed, for just a couple of days. The sprays relieve congestion and swelling, which often helps the infection clear by itself.

If you are really getting colds - virus infections - you might ask about immune testing. Something isn't right if you are constantly getting viruses.

I have issues with nettie pots, but I have been using the plain saline nasal spray and using a lot of it. about 4 times a day right now, I use it until my nose runs. It also helps me stop the itchy sneezy feeling you get with the onset of a cold.

Despite the new furnace humidifier, it has been very dry and my whole house if fighting colds. We are in single digits with a wind chill in the -20 area and I think that isn't helping. My asthma is cold based, but I'm allergic to dust so the two often ping off of each other.

Hi :)
Are you in any steroid inhalers? for some reason, with mine (Sybicort 80/4.5), whenever I get a cold my asthma does not worsen, I have been told it is because of the steroid inhaler.

I've have asthma real bad and for the past 9 years I've suffered, the doctor put me on all the meds and nothing worked all I got was a sore throat and a bad belly. It felt like I had something stuck iny throat,Well I figured out what it is and I hope it helps someone out there so they can stop suffering too. I'm on quvar and for the past few weeks it got real bad and the problem was I wasn't using a spacer I would put the quvar directly in my mouth and it was that simple. I got a spacer that if you suck to hard it makes a noise to alert you. So put quvar into spacer shake put mouth on spacer and blow when your out of air squeeze quvar and breathe slow. The doctor never told me how to do it. It's been two days and not one wheeze. And I'm better. I hope this help anyone not being able to breathe sucks
