Hi guys,
So I was tested about a year ago and the allergy test showed no allergies to food. However, when I eat nuts (especially wallnuts and pecans), my gums swell and I get lesions in my gums. It seems like when I take allegra it does not solve the problem, it just needs time to heal... what could it be?

Sure it could be a nut allergy. But it may be an intolerance, which they like to separate from allergies if you don't get throat swelling.

Allergy testing is supposed to be getting better, but it's not great yet. Blood testing is only about 80%. Scratch testing is more accurate. I test positive for peanuts, but I can eat them with no problem. There's some other unidentified nut though that gave me throat closing. I avoid nuts except for cashews, almonds and peanuts.

You might try a different antihistamine. From my experience some don't seem to do much.

My allergist had me keep a food journal to help identify my intolerances. It's worked great! See the search box at the top of the page.

Your best bet though, is to see you allergist and ask!!

Sounds like Oral allergy syndrome. I'm allergic to hazelnuts and strawberries -break out in hives - but it has never shown up on allergy testing. Testing for foods is notoriously unreliable. Just listen to your body.
