Herbal products are medicines, just as much as regular OTC meds and prescription meds.
Although it could be allergies, it's possible you might have a sinus infection that's gone on so long it's affected your sense of smell. that does happen! I have chronic sinus infections and get tinnitus and sometimes it goes into my ears or throat or lungs. My son had one that made him lose his sense of smell entirely and permanently.
You need to see a doctor and get a diagnosis. You can't treat something without knowing what you're treating. In your case you might want to see an ENT, ear-nose-throat doc. He can treat the ear. If he says it's allergies, go to an allergist.
