Welcome to the forum BlueJacket21.

Sorry about the allergies. They sure do seem different in the winter. We're not doctors, so we can't diagnose or tell you what to do. You'll probably get some sympathy and personal experiences though.

Have you had your allergies checked recently? My allergist said it's standard to recheck every 3 years now.

I'm on shots and have no different allergies in winter, but with dry air I do need to do sinus wash more often. I don't take any antihistamines, since I have the shots. If your shots aren't enough, maybe there is something else that needs to be added to the shots. I became allergic to grass just a few years ago and had that added to my shots.

Thank you for the reply.
I have done almost everything. I've had 2 sinus surgeries and I use a neti pot daily. It seems to be really bad when it's cold and dry out.. The worst part is the post nasal drip.. It makes me cough and gag... Then that mucus junk sits in my chest.. It hurt so bad last week I thought I was having a heart attack..

Once again thanks for the reply

allergen is from the greek meaning harmless. this means you have a problem with your immune system and pick up viruses very easily. it is not like aids or people taking chemo, but you have a lower immune system than the average person. others such as those with lupus and with rheumatoid arthritis also has this problem.

try to be healthy and sorry your sinuses are so bad. it is so cold here that part of my bronchi was so sore, it felt like a heart attack too.

best wishes from Joan

If you are already on allergy injections talk to your allergist about Xolair injections if it is more than nasal congestion.
Actually there is information and research that states people who have chronic sinus issues can have fungal related sinus inflammation and have improved on Amphotercin B nasal lavage. You would have to get that from a compound pharmacy with a prescription. You might want to see an ENT doctor.

Thank you. I am seeing a ENT and they now have me on antihistamine nasal spray... I've been on it for 3 days now.. And seems to be doing the trick... Wish I would have known about it sooner..
