Hey Everyone,

Feeling pretty lost with doctors help at the moment, so thought I would sign up to this to try and get some advise/insight into my persistent problems, a year ago from now I was having a drink with a date one evening which lead to sexual intercourse, I left her house early hours of the morning to go home and get some sleep, once I got back I hit the deck into bed straight away, 5 minutes later I had a sudden shock, a burning sensation shoot up my throat and down my right ear ? I had a quick glass of water, then went straight to sleep, the next day waking up I had the feeling of a lump sensation in my throat ? and then on my tonsil I had a kind of black spotted mark ? I couldn't seem to take my attention away from it, I remember reaching quite frequently as well at times, a few days later it got to much and I decided to call my doctor, he thought it was acid reflux so gave me omoprozole, I decided not to take these med's after doing some research, so booked an appointment at ENT and had a camera put up my nose, he said there was a tiny bit of irritation and no need for med's, he just said to sort my lifestyle out, looking back now my lifestyle for a good 7 years was pretty shocking, I was drinking most nights, taking a cocktail of street drugs/prescribed Valium etc, with a unhealthy diet, I'm 22 years old now, and I've quit smoking, eat a fully plant based diet, exercise, quit all drugs and alcohol, and this problem is still haunting me but not as bad as the start ? at my age I still want to be a social person going out with friends clubbing etc but I cant, the lump sensation is always there and I also have a rasp in my breath constantly ? another doctor thought it was possibly allergic rhinitis ? I've suffered with allergies in the past, and every morning when I wake up the problem is the worst and my eyes are bloodshot ? my left gland is always swollen, and it does feel a tiny bit painful in my throat sometimes, I found when my diet was unhealthy I would be having a few tonsil stones. But now that's gone since cleaning up my eating habits up, I saw ENT again the other day and he found a lump up my nose which he thinks was a wart but he said its regressing so not to worry about it, I just want to eliminate this problem from my life it really is driving me mad, I'm a singer and have lost a lot in my range of vocals which is driving me even more mad, is it globus ? or allergic rhinitis ? or some acid reflux ? or though I don't get any reflux pain ? or could it be some kind of infection ? from intercourse, I had bloods and they were all fine ? so I just really don't have a clue what is happening.

So you never tried the Omperazole? The lump like feeling is what I had when I was diagnosed with acid reflux. I never had heartburn nor any other symptoms, just that throat lump feeling. Btw, acid reflux can also affect the vocal chords.

Sounds very much like reflux. My refkux reaches my ears nose and throat I too can feel it rush into my ears in bed. It has been known to come out of my nose too. Try sleeping with top of the bed elevated or with a wedge pillow. Alcohol relaxes the les and is one of the main triggers for refkux. Don't eat for a few hours before bed.
