Hey all,

I have been somewhat active on the Ulcerative Colitis forum but I am new to this forum. According to my allergy skin tests I only have fall allergies but I am thinking I might have a seasonal allergy now because my congestion is worse than normal and my eyes are repeatedly becoming itchy and irritated. It usually only lasts for a few hours at a time but happens repeatedly.

I am trying to figure out whether I have an irritated eyeball or eyelid because the internet says that if it is allergic conjuctivitis (eyeball) I should do a cold compress. But if it's my eyelid (blepharitis) I should do a warm compress. My google searches have not yielded clear results - how can I tell the difference?

Tonight my eyes were hurting worse when I closed them so that had me thinking eyelids but I don't know if that's really a valid assumption.

My eyes are feeling a lot better than when I started this post but I would still appreciate advice because it will probably return tomorrow. I am also planning to consult with a doctor but this isn't so severe that I feel the need to go right away.

Ulcerative colitis can be associated with eye problems. Seeing a doctor is the right move here. Dr. Google is a really poor diagnostician. Good luck to you.

When my allergic conjunctivitis flares, it hurts to close my eyes or blink. An antihistamine eye-drop helps me the most when this happens to me.

That said, I do think it is important to make sure this is just allergies and not an infection or something else. My eye issues were confirmed by my Allergist and an eye doctor before I self-treated with the antihistamine eye-drops.
