For about 2 and a half or 3 weeks I have had issues with breathing. It started randomly one night and it felt like no matter how deep of a breath I took I wasn't getting enough air. The day after it happened again while I was on a (short) walk with my friend on a hot muggy day. This one lasted for a long time and seemed to get worse when I laid down for bed, and I was worried the issue was heart related. Add in a bit of dizziness, vertigo while driving, and the fear of heart disease, and I had what was the worst week of my life.

It has gotten better, and the shortness of breath I get now is only mild, coupled with some tightness/mild soreness in my chest. I went to a walk in clinic and got some lung x-rays. The doctor said my heart looked small because of something to do with my lungs (like my lungs were compressing it or something???), and told me that if it was heart related that my heart would probably look larger. She told me she thought it was asthma, but she didn't sound very convinced with her diagnosis. Also, when she listened to my heart it was through a t-shirt AND hoodie...I'm not a pro, but it seemed lazy to me.

Does this sound like asthma? I've had no wheezing or coughing, and the shortness of breath always seems to happen at random with no obvious triggers, expect for maybe muggy air, but not every time. Some people have told me anxiety could be a cause, but I'm rarely ever anxious when it starts, though when I start to worry it can make it worse. I have had an eventful few months with moving and quitting my job, but I don't generally feel stressed, i think? I hate to be the person questioning a doctors skills, but I'm still paranoid about my heart, so I need some reassurance confused

Welcome to the forum.

I'd go to a doctor, not a walk in clinic. Your symptoms are not the type that need a band-aid or cough syrup.

Do you have a regular family doctor? S/he would be the best to check out all your systems and refer you for testing or to see a specialist if needed.

Best wishes.
