Hi everyone!! I'm new to Healingwell.com and hope I can find the help I need.

I am under the care of an allergist and have been so for 3 years and 3 months. I kept breaking out in large inject site welts. The doctor when gave me another test and came to the same results at the one 3 years before. Nothing really changed. He then proceeded to cut the serum allergens down to almost nothing. He figured that that serum was too strong and added that I shouldn't have any more problems.

After two shots I broke out in welts again. This time one arm had the round welt (normal) but with a long tail type raised welt off the larger round one. That "tail" hurt when I touched it, the round welts just itched, get red and hot. Sometimes they wrapped around my entire arm.

So, now I have to decided should I go back or just take the zytec which I have to take in conjunction with the injections. Any suggestions or anyone have any similar issues?

Thank you!!

Welcome to the forum.

What's the carrier for the allergens? I'm sensitive to the gelatin and also to the preservative in most vaccines, but I wouldn't expect anything but water or saline in allergy shots.

Does the Zyrtec help with your reaction?

Have you had a reaction to just taking blood or any other shot?

Hi Alcle, Thanks for the nice welcome. I have no idea what the carrier is. Have had no other reactions when I have blood drawn for a checkup either. I asked the PA could it be the cotton or the alcohol they use to clean the injection site. No to that one too, and I was stretching it for any source to my reactions.

Zyrtec only helps for the sneezing and watery eyes. I tried Benadryl to and that makes no difference in the itching welts. Benadryl only works slightly when my throat swells up but that required the ER. The swelling is something no doctor can figure out. Been tested for it and they came up with zero!

My doctor is an allergist and an immunologist also. After telling me I have sensitive skin but should have no further reactions with the watered down version of the allergens. Since I did I am not sure I want to go back. My food allergy is very mild and most are environmental (trees, grass etc.)

I took a Zyrtec last night and I'm ok with the sneezing so maybe I should just take that and skip the shots.

I'm at a loss but I'm leaning towards the Zyrtec alone.
