I had my first allergy testing done today. I had the pricks on my back. I tested at least a 2 on everything. I had them test all the foods i eat and all were positive. This includes meats, milk, wheat, vegs, etc. I suffer from itching, hives that come and go, redness on my face that does not resolve with meds for Rosacea. I also have awful tummy troubles. My allergist has made an appt for RUSH Immunotherapy. Has anyone had this done? First time poster... smilewinkgrin

A 2 on the tests I've had isn't indicative of allergy. It can come from just having eaten the item recently. Tests can vary, so did the doctor actually say you are allergic to all of them?

You could have some allergies going on though. I'd just want to have any other possibilities ruled out before jumping into therapy with possible side effects.

Did the doctor explain what the plan is? How about the negative things that can happen?

I think I might ask for a second opinion. This sounds scary if they're going to treat you for everything!

I think I would want a second opinion. This kind of test is not always entirely accurate, and the only way to know for sure with food is to test slowly over a period by using a food diary. I have multiple food allergies, sulfite intolerance, gluten, dairy, you name it I have it, but by doing the food diary testing I discovered and confirmed foods that I had a serious problem with and ones that I was fine with. I just think you need to be very careful, and not cut out every food from your diet at this stage.

To give you a good example, I discovered olive oil was making me terribly ill, and it was something I ate a lot of, just by stopping this I became much better within a couple of days, and the allergist did not pick this up, so you see you have to be your own advocate with your health.

I feel ya. Just found out I have a bunch (half of what was tested) too and am going to RUSH in a couple weeks. Not as bad with foods though. They only tested about 8 foods though. Came back allergic to wheat, milk, eggs and baker's yeast. Almost EVERYTHING we have other than the meat and produce have that. Also all but one of the other things was an irritant. Never dreamed I'd develop a food allergy in later thirties. I found this site today while looking for answers and also made a post for the first time. Never knew you could be allergic to meat 'till reading on this site. Good luck with all of it.
