Hi everyone

On December 2013 I got a really bad flu, it was the worst one I have ever had in my life. I was coughing for almost 2 months and developed chest infection. I was not able to sleep at night. My doctor gave me a 5 days course of antibiotics.
On January 2014, I could feel my breathing was not same as before. It got really bad on May and I had to see my Dr again and he sent me through many different tests to diagnose the problem. I had twice X-ray, CT scan from my chest, Spirometry, blood test and heart echocardiogram and all came back normal.
I have seen 5 different specialist in the past 2 years but they can’t find the problem.
I tried all sorts of inhalers, singular, herbal medications, acid reflux pills and even Xanax but they don’t work!

I am wheezing sometimes only when I inhale not exhale. Breathing never gets perfect it's just changing from bad to worse. I struggle getting that completed breath and need to yawn all the time.

Has any of you experienced long term or permanent shortness of breath after a cold?

I posted a long message today. I just joined this forum. I suffered SOB and coughing for 3 months last winter after a cold. I'm recovering from an upper respiratory infection that I treated immediately. Started eve if a Jan 1st. Infection gone but coughing and SOB still. I had every test imagine able last year. I see my Pulmonologist tomorrow again. Wish I had an answer for you. Just wanted you to know you're not alone.

It sounds as if you might have post-infectious reactive airway disease. Mine was treated with Advair inhaler twice a day but took more than 8 months to fully clear up. When there are a lot of particulates in the air (dust, smoke, pollen, etc.) I still have problems with wheezing and shortness of breath.

Thanks very much jujub.
The problem is when I use Advair, my breathing doesn't improve a lot, and also make me cough. Did you have the same issue ??? I read somewhere that vitamin D3 can help to reduce the inflammation.
It has been almost 3 years since my breathing became bad after that cold.
