I started Allergy Shots/Immunotherapy about 4 weeks ago. Prior to starting them I had been instructed by my allergist to take Flonase, A steroid nasal spray and singular at night. I felt great after starting that routine, lots of energy, no issues from allergie. Then about two weeks later I start the shots, I cannot function I am so tired. I sleep any chance I get or am having to use caffeine in large amounts which makes me feel even worse. Has Anyone stopped the immunotherapy due to these side effects? Its debilitating and affecting my work and family. I want to sleep all the time.

Drugs can have side effects. Talk to your doctor about this and if he can't address your concerns get a second opinion. Here is a link to an article. At the end of the article there are people who tell you about their experience with the side effects of allergy shots.

OMG, I am worried this will not go away even if I stop now after reading what that poor woman went through! I am waiting for a return call from allergist to see if I can go off the shots cold turkey. I was fine when just using the meds and my allergies are not severe I was just getting bronchitis or lung infections from not taking care of the allergies in the past. (Ragweed, Tree Bark, Pollen and dustmites) ... So I will just treat the symptoms and try to get my energy back.

I got great relief after getting my doses built up on allergy shots. For years. But recently they didn't seem to be working. My allergist added Singulair. While I was in the hospital recently I didn't take the shots. The Singulair by itself seems to be working better.

I went off the shots cold turkey. No problem. You should only get the allergy symptoms back. I did keep taking the Singulair.

I spoke to my doctor and we are going to go back to a much smaller dose since 2 of my major allergy I have is in season right now (tree bark and Ragweed). I told her I would keep trying but I cannot keep going like this it is debilitating.

There are natural things you can do to treat allergies which do not have the side effects. Some doctors use drugs and some doctor use other ways of addressing the problem. If you tell your doctor about the side effects you have and she is not helping you find another doctor who understands the side effects the drugs are creating. Do not keep doing something that is making you sick.

My son is on his 3rd vial of allergy shots so it's been almost 9 months of shots. Since then he has tested positive for mono, EBV, the flu and a bacterial infection. In all, he has missed at least 7 weeks of school and is currently on homebound. If he's not sick, he's susceptible to everything everyone else has and ends up with it. I have been researching everything I can think of. Today, a student of mine told me about his own experience. He stayed sick the year he took allergy shots and once he stopped, he got well and stayed well. Wondering if we should quit too before my son misses his 6th grade year.
