hi everybody im new to this site, hopefully i can get some advice here.. first of my name is jake and my 22yrs old... my problem is that i can never breath through both nostrals at once. i can not remember the last time i was able to... the blocked nostral always changes, one day it my be the right one, and then i wake up the next morning and it might be the left one. this is not a life threatening issue but i have two nose holes and i feel i should be able to use both of them lol... i can still smell out of the working nose hole, so i dont have a problem there. at best i can get maybe 10% breathing out of the blocked side. if i try and cover the good side and try to breath out the bad side i can not get enough air to last 5 seconds with out gasping for air. there is no pain of any sort, and if i blow my nose nothing comes out from either side, no flem, mucus, ect.

do you think maybe this is an allergy type issue? i have never been tested but i figured if it was allergy orientated it would only spur up at giving times not 365 days a year. would it be in my interest to maybe try some type of nasal spray or other type of medication... i think this may be a big part of me snoring too. should i try placing a humidifier by my bed at night, i do wake up with a soar/dry throat quite frequently but i just figured that was due to all the breathing through my mouth when i sleep... i hope i havn't left anything out, i have tried to be as informative as possible. i hope i have placed this post in the right area, if not im sorry(new to this site)could somebody please direct me in the right direction then. thanx in advance for any help that you may provide.

Hi there and welcome to Healingwell :) It could be allergies but it sounds to me like you need to see an Ear/Nose/Throat (ENT) specialist. You may have a deviated septum or maybe even polyps. If the ENT can't find anything wrong with you then I would recommend allergy testing.

Good luck :)
