Hello all,
I am glad to find this blog as we have many things in common. I also have had allergies as long as I can remember. All things environmental, so not much I can avoid. Anyway, last year was awful. Lots of medications and reacting to my allergy shots. I asked to try the Xolair to help not taking so much medication. So I am six months in , and have been getting awful redness and itching at my injection site. I have been directed by my doctor to take a prednisone before to help, but honestly my goal was to not take steroids anymore. I am considering quitting because I am now reacting to my allergy shots as warm weather rolls in. I would appreciate any advice before I make a decision
Thanks
Jamie

Hello Jamie, welcome to Healing Well. I happen to see your post & wanted to respond. I can understand wanting to stay off of steroids. Why not ask your dr about taking some Benadryl prior to taking your shot? Clearly he needs to give his approval, just a thought anyway.

Take care.

My allergy shots quit working, so I asked my doctor what to do and she prescribed Singulair tablets. I felt lots better and decided to see what would happen if I stopped the shots. I felt fine without the shots and stayed off them. A year later and Singulair is still working for me.

We are all different. What works for me isn't right for everyone!

My allergist thinks I have asthma, but I don't think so. That's probably why she prescribed the Singulair in the first place. But it's working fine for my pollen allergies - drippy nose and sneezing. I wanted off the shots because they hurt me a lot, even with the smallest needle and a small dose.

You are the boss. I wouldn't agree to keep taking something that gave me a reaction.
